August 13, 2010

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's new Metis Secure Solutions emergency notification system has gone live, providing additional safety for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.

Metis recently activated 167 emergency notification devices in 15 academic buildings. An additional 32 devices will be installed in Vincent Science Hall, which is being renovated. Metis officals will conduct a final test in all campus buildings today.

Robert Downey, University police chief, said police introduced the system during student orientation, so that incoming students would have an awareness and understanding of the system's capabilities.
