- Mellon Institute was selected by Carnegie Mellon University and Metis Secure Solutions as the product's first beta test site because its design makes it is the most difficult communications environment on campus. The density of concrete, granite and marble construction creates an exceedingly hostile environment with extensive dead reception zones for cell phone communications. Operating the beta site in this building minimizes the need to replicate testing in other, less formidable locations. In short, if it works in Mellon Institute, it will work anywhere.
