The Metis Secure Solution

Unmatched reliability, speed and ease-of-use are integral to the Metis Secure Solution notification platform, including its proprietary combination of two independent wireless data paths to deliver and receive messages. In combination, these features make Metis Secure a superior solution with major advantages over every other emergency notification platform in the market.

High Impact Alerting Devices

The public face of the Metis Secure system is its alerting devices, which allow supervisors to create and send specific instructions to specific locations in less than 10 seconds.

The alerting devices can be installed in strategic locations such as meeting rooms, classrooms, labs and basements either in a single building, across a campus or within a larger region. The system can be operated from a central command center; authorized personnel can also log in from diverse locations via the internet.

Metis Secure's alerting devices provide redundant alerts, with multi-colored lights, a loud siren, voice instructions and text display. Voice instructions provide information about the emergency, with matching text displayed on a large LCD screen. By employing four stimuli, the devices are designed to maximize response effectiveness by providing more information than sirens and fire alarms. The Metis Secure system addresses needs of sight and hearing impaired people and is designed to be ADA compliant.

Call for Help Communications

A highly visible button on the device is used to activate a 'call for help' in three ways.

  1. A single button press automatically sends an alert to a central system supervisor indicating that a 'call for help' has been activated at a specific device.
  2. The activated unit automatically verifies to the sender that their 'call for help' has been sent. The system supervisor can respond immediately by sending a “help is on the way” message.
  3. The 'call for help' is also delivered as a text message to selected personnel via their cell phones or PDA. This allows security personnel on patrol to see that a specific room has requested help and the nearest officer can respond.

Revolutionary Approach to Reliable Data Transmission

Warning messages are delivered to the selected devices by two independent means, providing the security of redundancy.

  • Messages are sent over-the-air using the RBDS sub-carrier on commercial FM bandwidth. This allows the platform to operate in a very large geographic area - up to a radius of 50 miles.
  • A wireless mesh network independently passes messages from device to device within a building. This allows the platform to penetrate into reception dead zones such as basements or laboratories.
  • Messages will continue to be transmitted in the event of lost power, failed internet connections or overloaded cellular networks.
  • The platform is independent of and does not interfere with WiFi or Ethernet communications.
  • The wireless mesh reduces installation costs and maximizes system management and supervision.

Metis Secure includes:

  • An installed set of custom Metis Secure alerting devices, which are used to create a mesh network
  • FM/RBDS radio transmission
  • Front end graphic software allowing customers to easily operate the system
  • Backend software providing real time status to supervise and service the system
