PITTSBURGH—Metis Secure Solutions will demonstrate its award-winning indoor and outdoor Emergency Notification System at the 2012 Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) conference. The annual CSHEMA conference will be held July 14-18 in Portland, OR.

College and university EH&S professionals rely on the Metis Secure system to optimize their emergency response speed and effectiveness, reduce liability, and leverage pre-existing security investments. The two-way Metis Secure system provides the opportunity to:

  • Send targeted or campus-wide emergency alerts via the ADA-compliant Metis Secure indoor and outdoor Emergency Alerting Stations. This includes the ability to send different notifications to different areas when needed—e.g., instructing some people to shelter in place, and others to evacuate.
  • At the press of a button, link people in need with campus security or municipal police via a live-voice, hands-free connection.
If you don’t have central security dispatch, connect calls for help directly to officers on patrol via their radios.
  • Tie into other emergency communications systems the university may use—including email/text alerts, digital signage, outdoor loudspeakers, fire alarms, and IP phones and police radios—to simplify and coordinate outbound alerts and inbound emergency calls for help.

The Metis Secure system is deployed at institutions such as Carnegie Mellon’s Mellon Institute, Point Park University, and Slippery Rock University, in addition to manufacturing and industrial facilities and commercial office buildings.

The system features map-based Command Center software linked to Alerting Stations via a triple-redundant power and communications network that continues to work when phone, internet, and traditional power networks fail. It meets or exceeds NFPA 72 2010, Clery Act 2010, and ADA emergency notification regulatory guidelines.
