Metis Secure Solutions, IMLCORP SOUNDCOMMANDER®:
Inside-Out Voice and Warning Tone Solutions for Emergency Managers at EMEX 2012
With loud, clear voice warning capability getting more attention from emergency management organizations in all governmental jurisdictions, Metis Secure Solutions and IMLCORP teamed up to show their combined indoor and outdoor mass notification sound coverage capabilities at the 60th IAEM Conference & EMEX 2012, Oct. 29- 31 at the Rosen Centre Hotel & Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL.
IMLCORP displayed its SOUNDCOMMANDER tactical and mass notification loudspeaker systems, including the SC360 fixed wide area mass notification system, SC3500 deployable “Giant Voice” loudspeaker system, SC5600 deployable acoustic hailing device (AHD), the new SC1100 portable tactical loudspeaker system and a New ALERTCOMMANDER® pre-recorded warning tone and voice message delivery system.
Metis Secure Solutions showed its MS-5100 and MS-6100 In-Building and Outdoor Emergency Help Stations and its Command Center 2.0 map-based software, which serves as an integration platform for emergency, security and life safety systems. The combined team demonstrated the seamless integration of the SoundCommander system with the Metis Secure emergency communications system.
“FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), and every other disaster management agency, have made voice clarity a top priority, and they are addressing that through standards such as NFPA 72, UL 2572 and UFC 4-021-01,” said Stefan Pollack, CEO and founder of IMLCORP, Marietta, GA, the designer and manufacturer of SoundCommander systems. “Mere decibels alone are not the sole measure of a loudspeaker’s effectiveness. You need to have the optimum sound frequency range for the human ear so that people can understand emergency instructions and follow them. From the ‘high power speaker array’ or HPSA Node perspective, that means you have to have HPSAs that are crystal clear and highly intelligible. That includes the speakers of the indoor help stations located throughout a building.
“From the emergency management perspective,” he continued, “you need to be able to activate voice warnings, signs and other types of warnings from a central control station that ties into a fast, reliable network. This is where our alliance with Metis Secure gives emergency managers a comprehensive emergency mass notification system they can count on.”
The Metis Secure system is an integrated hardware and software solution that combines comprehensive Command Center software, rapid two-way indoor and outdoor Emergency Help Stations and redundant IP, wireless mesh, and FM-RBDS communication technologies to ensure security personnel can communicate to anyone or everyone, in seconds not minutes. The Metis Secure system also ensures that people in need can press a Help Station button, and quickly speak with security via a two-way, live voice, hands-free connection.
“The Metis Secure Command Center software provides an emergency communications and notification platform that makes it easy to integrate a mix of various notification, security, and life safety systems,” said Mark Kurtzrock, president and CEO of Metis Secure. “You shouldn’t have to log into multiple systems to send indoor and outdoor emergency alerts, receive calls for help, and monitor site security. Our customers tell us that they love having a single, easy to use interface they can use to operate their systems and keep their sites and people secure.”
“With our alliance with IMLCORP,” Kurtzrock said, “customers can send emergency alerts and instructions to Metis Secure indoor and outdoor help stations, and broadcast extremely clear “Giant Voice” notifications through IMLCORP’s SoundCommander and AlertCommander systems—simultaneously and in seconds, from one integrated interface.”
